Teamwork in Om-Kas-Toe by Phantom11 (1B)*
Since I'm in soccer, I'm thinking a lot about teamwork. So it's not surprising that when I read Om-Kas-Toe, teamwork is what jumped out to me.
At the beginning, Om's tribe was moving to their winter camp when one of their beastly, wild dogs ran away with a baby on his back. The baby's mother ran off with an ear-splitting shriek, so the Indians decided to have a search party for the baby. So Om and the special bird that he found, Wise Bird, started searching too. Om searched on the ground while Wise Bird tried to locate the baby from the air. Working together, the miracle happened--they found the baby!
Later on, Om and his sister, Twin Girl, captured an "elk-dog" (which is a horse) using teamwork. They made plans together. Om would circle the area, checking for enemies while Twin Girl started humming and walking toward the horse. He joined in and they caught the horse by its rope.
As you can see there are good examples of teamwork in teamwork in Om-Kas-Toe. I'll have to remember then when I'm playing on the soccer field!
